In Sarawak, WWF-Malaysia promotes the conservation of native and indigenous fish species, including the ecologically sensitive but important “Semah” and “Empurau” in #Baleh watershed.

Among others, our works cover collecting information to guide better #watershed #management for the benefit of the rivers, its aquatic species and local communities.

On 14-16 September, the #freshwater team from Sarawak office and officers from Inland Fisheries Division, Department of Agriculture Sarawak conducted a #recce trip to #upstream of a river within the Baleh watershed.

Through this trip, the area and river were surveyed to verify the presence of #Semah and #Empurau and determine potential sampling stations for the full fish assessment at a later stage.
