Project Pebble (to Prevent Soil-Eating)
Tweet | ![]() |
So, I was trying to figure out how to prevent Vincent from eating soil again…my friend, Cathy, gave me a brilliant idea – use pebbles to cover the soil!
Cathy is always full of brilliant ideas. If you remember she came to help me Daffodil-proof Stargate2.
So, off we went to Sg Buloh to buy pebbles.

The pebble store was already closed, but another store which we often go to was still open and they had pebbles but only of one size and two colours – white or “black” (which was bluish grey).
But hey, that was the size and colour I had in mind. Yay! What a coincidence. So we bought six packs. I figured that should be enough.
We also often come to this store as the workers love cats and they have cats in their grounds.

We saw these as tiny kittens last time!
Back home armed with our purchase, we got straight to work…

First, I dug out all the netting we used to Zurik-barricade our bedroom windows previously.
Another coincidence? They were the PERFECT tailor-made size for this patch!!

No re-cutting necessary. Just a teeny bit short in length. Look at the width – it’s perfect!

Luckily Jia-Wen was around to help carry these six 20kg bags.

Hmm…

Tabs watches from a safe distance.

Bombs away!!

Tabs investigates.

Can I help? Can I help?

The MOST important patch – this is where Vincent eats soil.

Another netting was again PERFECT for this patch.
What a smooth operation!!
And….we’re done!!

(Takes a bow…)
Thanks for the fantastic idea, Cathy!
Let’s hope Vincent won’t try to still eat the in between soil.
One teeny problem, I hope the cats can find somewhere to poo now. For some reason, they don’t want to use Tiger’s sandpit. Out of respect?
Next project coming up….(please wait).
