My DIY Homecooked Catfood
Tweet |
Besides purchasing Cubgrub’s cat barf, I also make our own homecooked catfood. Once in a while, the cats like a change so they eat homecooked as well as canned food. Kibble is the last resort, only as snacks or when I am not at home.
This is just a sharing and my recipe is far from perfect. Please consult a qualified pet nutritionist if you’d like to cook for your cats or dogs. Cats’ and dogs’ nutritional requirements are different.
I use:
About 2.6kg of chicken fillet and a small amount of chicken liver. The chicken fillet is cooked with about 650ml of drinking water in the pressure cooker until “just done” (not overcooked). Sometimes, I add a bit of organic pumpkin for fibre (I’m told it isn’t necessary).
After the chicken is cooked, the liver is added to allow itself to self-cook.
Then, the food is blended in my Vitamix and poured into a large pot so that I can mix in the supplements.
Hey, Heidi, it’s not ready yet!
Heidi loves homecooked food.
Almost all these supplements are from iherb.com
Fish oil (10000-20000mg)
Vit E (800IU)
Vit B (I have been using Nutritional Yeast, but will switch to Vit B Complex tablets the next round as Nutritional Yeast has phosphorus)
Taurine (4000mg)
Bone Meal (5 tablespoons, but today, I added raw chicken necks to blend with my cooked food, so I reduced the Bone Meal, I’m hoping to use raw chicken necks in future)
Morton Lite Salt (2 teaspoons – for potassium and iodine)
I opened up the Taurine and Vit E (powder) capsules and cut the Fish Oil caps.
Dishing out and then, frozen immediately.
The B Complex I ordered arrived today!
