Naughty, Naughty Vincent

Not only did Vincent make a great escape by sneaking out of the front door (unnoticed by us) last night, this morning, he did another “magic trick” when he was pilled.

I got up earlier to administer the antacid as this has to be given half an hour before his other medication (otherwise, the antacid will bind with the meds making the meds ineffective).

Then, he had breakfast.

It’s a little strange too, ever since coming back from the vet’s yesterday (when we celebrated the fact that Vincent has now “progressed” to the next step of being hydrated enough to start on Fortekor to prevent protein loss), his appetite is no longer voracious, it’s just moderate. Normal, if you like. No more gorging up food like he hadn’t eaten for a week. Just “selamba”.

This morning, he also just ate moderately. I suppose this is okay, as long as he eats and he is eating four square meals per day, which is more than a cat his weight is supposed to.

I did ask the vet if Fortekor affects appetite, but she said no.

So, anyway…

A moderate breakfast with his friends in the kitchen.

This morning, I gave him Cindy’s Tender Chicken and Cubgrub. Oh…I think I know why he didn’t finish his food this morning. Maybe it was because I laced it with too much probiotics.  Yes, that must be it. I was greedy this morning and decided to add a bit (too much?) more probiotics because the therapeutic dose is one scoop and I haven’t gone up to one scoop all this while.

Yes, maybe that’s why he didn’t finish his food. Okay, go slow on the probiotics.

Heidi used to love raw food, especially Cubgrub, but now she refuses to eat it. I’m trying to train her to eat it again. See how she avoids the Cubgrub?

After about 40 mins, it was time for Vincent’s morning medication (Metrogyl (one-eighth tablet), Fortekor (half tablet) and the Azodyl capsule). Pills are to be “washed down” with Vetri DMG.  And there is also the nose drop. I started with the nose drop.

I gave in this order: Metrogyl, Fortekor and lastly the Azodyl (because he hates the capsule, being big, I guess). Each one was washed down with Vetri DMG. There was also a struggle as each one was pilled. Husband helped hold him. The towel was used.

Then, just as I thought all had gone down successful (certainly appeared so), I let him go.

Then, I saw the Fortekor on the floor beside him. He was standing there, as though declaring victory. How did the second pill come out when the Azodyl had already gone down?

So we had to do the Fortekor again. Vincent, it’s been such a long journey getting to this stage where you can finally take the Fortekor, and you spit it out??

The Fortekor went down.

Then, as I was putting him down, guess what? I saw the tiny Metrogyl on the floor! When did he spit this one out?  This is the first tablet that supposedly went in!!

So, we had to do it again. The Metrogyl is for his flu and ulcers and it IS important.

How naughty is he?

I let him go, and then, it was time for the Tramadol cream (rubbed on inside of ear). This should be okay. No pain. No force.

And what did Vincent do? He ran!

He ran all the way out to the patio and I went after him with the blob of Tramadol already on my finger (cannot be put back into the syringe, it would be contaminated).

And he went under his table in the patio garden where it was most difficult for me to catch him.

I already had this blob of cream on my finger so I only had one free hand to drag him out. I would have waited if I hadn’t squirted the cream out, but now that it was already on my finger, I had to administer it.

So, what did I do? I went as low as I could (thank goodness Stretch Therapy has enabled me to bend a bit more now, but my knees are still useless – cannot squat) put both hands under the table and “felt” for his ears.

I managed to rub the cream on the inside of his ear.

Hmmmph!

Then I came inside and what did Vincent do?

He followed me in.

Hello? Anymore games?

If none, I will just take my leave and go back upstairs.

Bye, human. Later.
