This is a video taken at the Elephant Safari and Lodge in Bali. It shows graphic details of how an elephant gives birth.

It has a happy ending (you might shed tears, too) as the baby is safely delivered by the mother within 2 minutes, without requiring any help from any human. No screaming, no panic, no vets. Just the mother doing it all by herself and knowing exactly what to do.

It just goes to show that animals have an instinctive intelligence in all things natural, whether it is in giving birth, knowing what to eat or how much to eat, an intelligence that the so-claimed "most intelligent and civilised" species, the humans, seemed to have lost.
