Today is World Orangutan Day!

Sadly, orangutans today are on the critically endangered species lists, due to poaching, illegal wildlife trade and habitat loss.

To have an exact count on the orangutan populations are always a challenge. It is estimated that there are only about 1,700 orangutans that remains in Sarawak.

Frustrated about wildlife conservation? Want to help but don’t know how? Have no fear, we are here. So here are some simple things which everyone can do to save our orangutans:

✔ Never buy or keep an orangutan as pet.

✔ Do not buy orangutan skulls for trophies.

✔ Report any cases to relevant authorities.

✔ Spread the conservation message to your friends and relatives.

If the main threats to orangutans are not addressed in a serious, urgent and sustained manner, orangutans could be extinct in the future.

Together hand in hand, let us protect this special animal and give them hope!
