A check by Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) on 34-year-old Tam Jiaming resulted in confiscation of 6 live tarantulas being smuggled into Singapore, following a raid by Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) which saw a seizure of 92 more in his residence.
Tarantulas are one of the many prohibited wild animal species who are illegally offered for sale on online platforms in Singapore.
If you have information on anyone keeping or selling prohibited wild animals, please report to AVA, the enforcement authority, at 6805 2992. You may also wish to inform our Animal Crime Investigation Unit at acrescrime@gmail.com or 24-hour Wildlife Crime Hotline at 9783 7782.
