We were inundated with messages about poor Molido. People had seen her struggling, dragging her back legs as she desperately tried to walk. As is often the case, when the calls and messages started to come in, all our Animal Rescue Officers were out, attending to life-or-death emergencies all over the island of Phuket where we are based. So our founder jumped in his car and started the long drive to find Molido.

Rescues like this would simply be impossible without the animal lovers who fund them. Our founder John found Molido and after some coaxing, he managed to get her in the car and to the safety of our shelter. She was scared, confused, dehydrated – and in a lot of pain. Molido had terribly infected sores on her back legs, surrounded by dead and rotting tissue, from where she’d been dragging herself along the harsh, unforgiving road. She was also infested with fleas and severely anaemic. An x-ray confirmed she had a fractured spine.

Today, thanks to people like you, Molido’s world has changed forever. We were able to start her on pain relief and antibiotics for her infection. She received regular laser therapy to heal the wounds on her legs and daily physiotherapy to help her stand and stretch her hips. Finally, when she was strong enough, Molido received a very special gift funded by people like you – her own, customised wheelchair. Now there is no stopping her!

Established in 2003 in Phuket, Thailand, Soi Dog is Southeast Asia's largest organisation helping stray animals. The Gill Dalley sanctuary in Phuket is home to over 1,600 animals.
