I received this in a forwarded email:
Floods in Cambodia did not receive the wide media coverage as Thailand. But I believe the devastation there could be worse given the poverty of the country, and the fact that the infrastructure there is already basic before the floods. Siem Reap was flooded 5 times in a month.
"According to, H. E, Yim Vanda, first deputy director of national disaster management, the damages caused by the recent floods in Cambodia could be more than $530 millions. As 18 of 24 provinces were seriously effected with more 1. 5 million people and over 400,000 hectars of rice fields!!"

Floods, earthquakes or tsunamis, natural disasters strike without notice, and when it does, nothing much matters except our basic survival skills and as long as we have food, shelter and warmth (and some help towards this end), I think we ought to be thankful.
A friend told me that after the tsunami struck Sri Lanka, its people reflected on their plight and said that they had learnt a valuable lesson as a result of the devastation and all their losses - We have accumulated so much, but actually we only need so little.
Let's always share whatever we have, even if it is a little. We don't really need so much in life. When disaster strikes, it is survival skills, sharing and loving-kindness that will keep us alive.
