Walking with your Best Friend

Walking your dog is more than just a way of exercising man’s best friend. It stops your best friend from getting bored. ‘Walking your dog’ gets both of you out and about while helping to grow the bond you have with your dog.

When walking your dog, consider it a training opportunity! Dogs are not born knowing how to walk on a leash, so you will have to teach your dog how to follow your lead.

How many times do you need to walk your dog, depends on your dog – there are some breeds for whom once a day walks are enough, but some others, especially high-energy ones, require more walks each day. But as a general rule, it is recommended that you walk your dog at least 15 minutes, twice a day.

It is rare that a dog exercises on his own, and your yard does not provide the variety of sensory stimulation that most dogs need to ward off boredom. Dogs need walks for both exercise and mental stimulation. There is no reason that a walk cannot encompass and meet all the needs of both humans and dogs.

Get ready to get out of the house with your best friend and start to have a great bonding session. You will never look at a walk with your dog the same way again!
