Happy birthday to a brave little survivor!

Emily has just celebrated her 11th birthday and we couldn�t be happier for her. A year ago, she arrived at the Soi Dog shelter with a horrible wound on the top of her head. Her left ear was missing entirely. Back then, she was called Nukky and she was estimated to be about 10 years old. After months of treatment and recovery at the Soi Dog shelter in Phuket, she was adopted by Lisa and travelled to the United States in August. Lisa says it was love at first sight.

Lisa recently shared this update with us: �[Emily is] a little wobbly on her bad leg but gets along just fine. Having one ear and poor eye sight hasn�t slowed her down either. She is very trusting and loves people, gets along with my other two dogs and �tolerates� the cats. Over the months, she has really come out of her shell and her personality has really shown. Even though she is older, she loves to run around and play tag with the other pups and people too! She can be really silly and almost bounces like Tigger.

�Her favorite activity is coming to work with me. I work at a college and bring in my dogs to work weekly. Students love to stop by for a snuggle and hearing her story. She will run around with them, but she will also calmly sit in their lap for hours getting belly rubs. They have a special affection for her. And when students are stressed with academics, Emily is a great ambassador for perseverance and comfort!

�A funny quirk � I do not have carpet in my house, but we do at work. She loves to lay on her belly with all legs splayed out and �army crawl� around the floor. When no one is available for a belly rub, she gives one to herself!�
