WORRIED ABOUT DOGS IN THE COLD?
Please share this chart to help spread the word about safe outdoor temperatures for dogs. If you have a dog in your neighborhood that you are concerned about, please don’t be shy about taking action. You can try these techniques:
1. TALK IT OUT: Try having a calm discussion with the homeowner. You could even offer to provide a heated bed, straw or other items to make the dog’s house warmer on cold days, but during extreme cold, the dog certainly should be indoors, even if it’s simply restricted to one room.
2. Call local police or animal cruelty authorities.
3. If you don’t get a response to either of these, you might try what others have done successfully. Some use social media to create a wave of protest to pressure law enforcement to intervene.
Please share your ideas and experiences below.
