That’s a wrap! Over the weekend, Semporna Marine Eco Week (SMEW) 2017 officially came to a close. Starting off with the launch of Semporna’s Early Response Coral Bleaching Plan (the very first district in Sabah to have this!), the week had a series of activities.

This post showcases an ecodiver training – attended by representatives from government agencies, NGOs, and dive operators – who are now certified ecodivers!

The official closing ceremony also covered a beach and underwater clean-up on Omadal Island; participated by government agencies, dive operators, communities, and NGOs, who managed to collect a total of 175kg of rubbish! A total of 145kg from underwater and 30kg from the beach clean-up.

WWF-Malaysia is deeply grateful to all who were involved; without which, SMEW 2017 wouldn’t have been a success.
