Updates On 7th Nov 2017

The International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT) will open its doors again on the 14th of November in Morocco. This year we’re very concerned about the potential outcomes of the meeting which may wipe out 10 years of efforts to recover the stock.

Not long ago, it looked as if bluefin tuna would disappear forever. The population was crashing in the face of huge overfishing. WWF was first to warn about this new threat and since 2001 led an international campaign to avoid the collapse of the bluefin tuna population and to ensure a sustainable fishing activity.

Bluefin are the largest tuna and can live up to 40 years. They migrate across oceans and can dive more than 4,000 feet.
