Heidis Walking Circuit
Tweet |
Humans are encouraged to walk 10,000 steps each day?
Well, what about cats?
Lately, we observed that around noon, Heidi will walk her “circuit” around the house. It happens like clockwork…every single day.
At around noon, she starts.
The circuit takes her around the living room, in a very orderly manner. She goes to the door, stops awhile, then to the piano, around the sofa, then off to the dining room, makes a turn, and repeats the entire circuit. Many, many rounds.
Exactly like a clockwork toy (you know, the type where you wind it up and it starts walking?).
And you cannot stop her. She has to complete her circuits and it takes about 15 to 20 minutes of going round and round. With military discipline.
Initially we thought it was a slow version of “Pole’s Dory” (Pole’s is very fast – dashing to and fro), because Heidi does it with an obsession as well.
Or is it just being very disciplined, I’m not sure.
Maybe cats know they have to walk a few thousand steps a day to stay healthy?
Cats know a lot of things, don’t they?
Maybe it is because Heidi doesn’t get to follow us for taiji anymore now, so she has to do this walking exercise? We cannot let her out because she doesn’t want to come back immediately and she insists on going to the neighbour’s house. Mr Zurik comes back; he’s very “obedient” in that sense.
