MEET THE GUY WHO QUIT HIS JOB TO WALK DOGS FOR FREE

Yep. Peter quit his job to volunteer long-term at the Soi Dog shelter in Phuket. Peter hails from Sussex, England. He first came to Soi Dog last December to volunteer for a week. But then he cancelled the rest of his planned holiday and volunteered for another week. Not long after getting home, he decided to quit his job and return to Soi Dog in June.

Now he spends every Monday – Friday at the shelter walking and socialising dogs rescued from Thailand’s illegal dog meat trade. Peter says the most rewarding part of the experience is seeing improvements in the dogs, who can have a lot of mistrust.

Volunteers are needed year-round at Soi Dog. To learn more and discuss dates, send an email to volunteering@soidog.org. Don’t worry, we won’t keep you here forever. Although Peter does make a compelling argument: “If you like dogs and you like beaches, this is the holiday for you!”
