Yuna, a 5th year veterinary student at Seoul National University in South Korea, used her school holiday to volunteer at the Soi Dog shelter in Phuket last month. Back home, Yuna is involved in multiple animal welfare initiatives. She and her peers recently won some government funding, which they are using to create a magazine about animal welfare.

Yuna has always loved animals. As a soon-to-be veterinarian, she has a particular interest in how space can be maximized to create the best possible conditions for animals at shelters. Yuna used Soi Dog’s cat suites as an example – the cats have the option of travelling between their outside enclosure or staying inside. They have stairs along the wall, towers to climb and sleep on, and walls between their litter boxes.

Another passion for Yuna is educating people about how to take care of pets, which will ultimately mean happier cats and dogs AND happier people. Thank you for volunteering at the Soi Dog shelter, Yuna! We look forward to seeing the great work you will do for animals in South Korea.
