An adoption story from one of our adoption families “Norrie’s story”:
Our aunt visited and adopted Norrie from the SPCA and she became our pet. Our lives changed as we had no experience in caring for a dog. Norrie was uncomfortable and nervous when she first came in. She was particularly quiet and never barked. The thought on our minds was that she could be a dumb dog. After that, we began to introduce ourselves and spend time with her daily. Slowly, she gets used to us, and we were very surprised to hear her first bark. Hooray, at last she barked!! Haha!
She is very sensible; she is a clean dog where she will excrete only on the newspapers. After adopting Norrie, we learnt a lot of things. We learnt to bathe her, take her to the vet for her vaccination and trained her to defecate. We are unaware of all these responsibilities about keeping a pet.
Time flies, we are now used to living with a pet animal. Our home is filled with happiness whenever we hear her bark and see her gestures.
Sometimes we feel annoyed and reprimand her when she bites our shoes! We feel grateful for her arrival cos’ we learnt a lot of the things which we haven’t done before.
Instead of buying one, please adopt from the shelter as you are saving a life. We hope that everyone can support SPCA Penang’s Adoption Campaign. Thank you.
