Cats On Pulau Hantu (Part 2) | Hantu Blog

MISSION PAWSIBLE ON PULAU HANTU

Working together with Singapore Land Authority (SLA), Cat Welfare Society (CWS) and the Hantu Blog, we managed to trap four cats that were abandoned on Pulau Hantu and brought them back to mainland. We were first alerted to the situation by a member of the public who spotted some hungry cats on the island recently.

It is necessary for these cats to be removed from Pulau Hantu as they would not have survived on their own. The cats have been sterilised by CWS and are currently under their care.

Recently, the SPCA reached out to fishermen around the area, seeking their help to keep a lookout for people abandoning animals on the islands, and to report them to us.

This rescue mission would not have been successful without the cooperation and assistance rendered by the various parties involved, as well as compassionate members of the public who are our eyes on the ground. We thank everyone for playing their part for the animals.

Under the Animals and Birds (Amendment) Act 2014, anyone who is found guilty of cruelty to animals, including abandonment of any animal, can be imprisoned for up to 18 months, fined up to $15,000, or both.
