350+ CATS WAIT FOR WATER IN 132 DEGREE SUPER HEAT!

We’re asking for help with our street cat feeding project in Turkey during an unfathomable season of summer heat and humidity.

“The digital scale in town said 132F in the midday heat today,” street feeding volunteer Manuela Wroblewski explains with a soft voice buried in exhaustion. “It is too cruel to imagine. It’s almost impossible to breathe.”

“The heat was beyond imagination again today as even the highest sunscreen, factor 50, does not help in this aggressive sun,” Manuela continues. “I am burned even through my clothes and on my belly. The sunscreen instantly melts on the face and tastes really bad.”

For seven years, Manuela has been leading a project to provide food, water, emergency veterinary care and spay/neuter for the cats in Avsallar, Turkey. She visits 52 feeding stations daily and does all the work on foot, pulling a trolley of food and water behind her. She stops at several shops along the way to re-stock supplies so that all the animals, like this little one, will have something to eat and drink. It’s an enormous mission of love and devotion, yet most often, the locals view her with contempt.

“One horrible, horrible pedestrian instantly yelled at me today when he saw me giving water and food to a cat mom and her four kittens,” Manuela said. “He got so aggressive and loud as he hated animals. Can he not see they are simply trying to stay alive and that water is their lifeline? It is too hot for them to search for food. I am all they have, and even though I can barely carry on, I must keep walking for all those animals who wait for me each day.”

The cats here actually do sit on-the-lookout for Manuela each day and can be seen running toward her as she approaches with her trolley full of food and water. To help sponsor this life-saving work:
