Soi Dog Foundation is sad to announce the passing of Pa Lewan. She joins the list of Phuket animal heroines who have died this year. She was involved in a road traffic accident whilst out feeding dogs on Monday evening.
Pa Lewan recovered from breast cancer not long ago, yet her routine never varied. Up before dawn, she had a stall at the local fish market. She would leave there mid-morning, taking back with her unsold fish and other food she got from other stall holders. Soi Dog gave her an additional 400 kg of dog food every month. She would then prepare the food and in the afternoon would load up her motorcycle and sidecar and head to Koh Sire. Next, she would go to Toh Sae Hill – more popularly known as Monkey Hill – and feed the dogs there. In total, well over 200 dogs depended on her for their food. We are now looking to find someone else who can feed these dogs.
Our heartfelt condolences go out to Pa Lewan’s family and friends.
