This is a quick summary by Joe, a photographer who accompanied us on the 6.19 rescue. We will be posting a photographic detail of the rescue. But want to fast forward to current events. This rescue, treatment, continued care is made possible by support from Soi Dog Foundation. “To start, Jeff and Deb, (and i shooting video), responded by plane when called to the largest truck stop on record by Chinese activists: 1,300 dogs. It took place in Guanzghou. The shelter for the dogs stood for about a week and, pressured by angry villagers, had to move. Jefferey and Deb and the volunteers vaccinated and vetted 700+ dogs. They stabilized the shelter layout. The 2nd and 3rd shelter move locations were also attacked. Jeff and Deb (NDLB), took back the first shelter location from hostiles and Jeff ended up arranging the rescue transport of 200 dogs back to the 05-05 shelter in Hunan that Jeff is based at. As a village of volunteers (as Jeff always says), the team saved over 200 dogs’ lives, by loading them onto chartered trucks that Jeff accompanied on an 18 hour road trip back to the 05-05 shelter. As Jeff said, it made history as the largest ever transport in China.”Currently, Jeffrey, Lia and volunteers are treating and stabilizing the dogs. Many have been sent to local hospitals, we have three new moms and all the healthy dogs have been released out of cages into a spacious shaded yard. Divided by sex and temperament.
