However, dogs may be omnivorous but cats are obligate carnivores. There have been numerous research findings on the proportion of meat:vege ratio for dog and cat food. On the average, 60% meat and 40% vege may be appropriate for dogs while for cats, it is usually suggested that the proportion be 95% meat and 5% vege.

More and more, it is highly recommended that kibble be avoided. The reasons are many: (1) We will never know what is in the kibble. (2) The pellets have been baked to a high temperature, thus, many nutrients are destroyed and most importantly, (3) kibble is dry and very lacking in moisture. Water is essential to health, especially that of the kidneys.
