Tigers Hyperesthesia

Tiger’s hyperesthesia came back a few months ago. He was free from seizures for a few weeks after the August 2016 to October 2016 episodes.

It was Prochloroperazine that seemed to work last time. This is a very mild motion sickness medicine for humans. But now, it doesn’t work anymore.

We’ve also tried acupuncture, but it didn’t work at all.

Instead of resorting to any potentially toxic drugs, which I’m told, may or may not work, or, may make it even worse, we have decided to let Tiger be.

He stays in this tv rack most of the time, as he feels safe inside it. His appetite is good and he loves barf. Sometimes, he comes out and sits on the sofa as well.

Tiger seems reasonably happy. He is able to eat (a lot too), he has his private sand litter outside in the vegetable garden and he has his private space where he feels safe.

Life is such that we get ailments which sometimes have no cure, and rather than messing too much with something that we don’t know enough about, sometimes it’s best to just live with it.

An update on 30th June 2016: After a few days, I consulted two vets and was told 3-4 fits per day cannot be “left alone”. Tiger needs to be on medication again to control the seizures for a better quality of life, so we are back on a medication regimen again now.
