Bingu, the heroic dog in the Sri Lanka floods is the pet dog of the caregiver-nurse of my aunts and uncle (here in Malaysia).  Here’s a sharing from my cousin:

This photo that has gone viral in Sri Lanka shows animals belonging to my parents and our aunt’s main caregiver. The animals were at home alone when the floods came. According to neighbors, Bingu the dog took note of the worsening situation, picked up Kalu the cat and put her on his back.

As Bingu was trying to get them to safety, a tv cameraman saw them and got them on the news. The cat is getting treatment for some injuries. The dog has reunited with his human family but all are now taking refuge in a Buddhist temple since their home is completely destroyed. But Bingu’s a hero and an inspiration to all.

An update: Kalu has been sent for treatment and now, Colombo Animal Rescue has offered to help.
