Daffis Big gophery Escape

Last night, there was a function next door, so there were tents and lots of people.

Daffodil seemed very unsettled with all the strange noise. She darted to and fro, as though looking for somewhere to go.

At 11.30pm, when I went up to sleep, she was still around.

In the middle of the night, someone pee-ed on my husband’s blanket. We don’t know who it was, but he got up and cleaned the bed.

I was dead tired and slept through and yes, I am sure Daffodil did not come to wake me up at her usual 3am.

I got up late this morning.

It was already 6.30am.

Daffodil was nowhere to be seen.

I fed everyone. Then, I looked all over the house.

And I saw this:

No, that cannot be possible. I don’t think so…

Ginger may be trying to tell me something here…

Is that possible???

Daffodil moved that big rock? Well yes, she has done it before, but isn’t that gap too small for her to squeeze through?

I went up and down the road to look for her. She was nowhere to be seen.  I asked Mukda, who was taking her morning walk. She hadn’t seen her at all too.

Did she use this side?

Zurik tried to help and looked up the roof from the garbage compartment.

I think I understand, Zurik. Daffodil went up the neighbour’s roof?

It does make sense. If not, Zurik would have gone up the roof. There is a spot up there that every PatioCat likes – it was Ginger’s, then it became Vincent’s, then Zurik’s, and Daffodil’s.  They all like it there.

Nevertheless, loyal Zurik, trained KGB-spy, helped me looked.

“I already told you, Daffodil is up on the neighbour’s roof. Why on earth are you calling for her up and down the road??” (like an idiot, really…)

Poor Ginger…He must be really worried.

Really, Daffodil. I know you are a survivor, but really…is this necessary? You leave Ginger alone and take off? You are totally safe in the house (in the bedroom, mind you), and you take off?

How did she escape through this narrow gap???

We’ll have to wait, Ginger.

Maybe after all the festivities are over next door, after the tents have been taken down, Daffodil will come back.

This is her morning routine. I will wait.

Isn’t that all I can do?

Maybe she thinks she is well already and wants to be a “free spirit” again? Maybe she just doesn’t like to be forced to be pilled and to wear a tshirt. Maybe she was just so scared of the tents, the strange (new) environment, the noise and she had to look for a place that would be safer than our house.

Why is it that Vincent, Heidi, Ginger and even Zurik didn’t see a need to run off?

Indeed, why?

We’ll never know.

Very strong survivor instincts, perhaps.

Every cat for herself, that’s Daffodil. Can’t blame her. That’s just the way she is.

I have looked up numerous times at the roof. There is no sign of her.

It is going to rain soon.

Daffodil, wherever you are, please be safe.

Please come home soon.

Loyal Cow comforting me.

Cow is always here…when it matters. He’s an empath.

Good boy, Cow. I know, you will never go away. No matter what.
