Tan Chuan-Jin

We thank Minister Tan Chuan-Jin for spending his morning with our youth participants at our inaugural Animal Welfare Youth Leadership Camp, targeted at youth leaders from upper secondary schools, polytechnics, and junior colleges, with the aim of inspiring the next generation, to be leaders in animal welfare.

The two-day-one-night camp aims to empower and equip participants with knowledge in key areas that are directly applicable to animal welfare, such as public policy, law, ethics and science.

It was a pleasure hosting Minister Tan at the SPCA and we thank him for inspiring the next generation of animal welfare leaders.

Spent the morning at SPCA’s first Animal Welfare Youth Leadership Camp. I had a good discussion with the youth leaders talking about animal welfare and a wide range of issues. I shared with the youth leaders my experience in the The Singapore Army, MND, MOM, MSF and how I deal with issues raised by my residents as a Grassroots Adviser. There were questions on how we deal with the US and China, on how to be an effective leader while dealing with popular demands, how to manage the tensions that come with having more wildlife in Singapore etc. quite eclectic!
