Fighting the Dog Meat Trade in Indonesia

Dog meat is increasing in popularity throughout Indonesia, which threatens to jeopardise Jakarta’s rabies-free status.

This week, Soi Dog�s International Director of Animal Welfare met with representatives from Jakarta Animal Aid Network, Change for Animals Foundation, and the chief veterinarian from Indonesia�s Department of Agriculture. They discussed health risks posed by the dog meat trade and will now develop a strategy to tackle this inhumane trade.

Look for updates in the coming months on this collaborative effort to fight the dog meat trade in Indonesia.

Soi Dog Foundation

Established in 2003 in Phuket, Thailand, Soi Dog is Southeast Asia's largest organisation helping stray animals. The Gill Dalley sanctuary in Phuket is home to over 1,600 animals. Soi Dog also has a treatment facility in Bangkok and responds to crisis situations throughout Thailand.
