John Dalley and the late Gill Dalley, co-founders of Soi Dog Foundation, have been honoured with the Extraordinary Commitment and Achievement Award in Animal Protection. The Award was given by Humane Society International at Animal Care Expo 2017 last week.

Romina Cacciola, President of Soi Dog Foundation USA, accepted the Award on behalf of John and his late wife Gill, to whom John gives the credit. An excerpt from his acceptance speech:

“… this award is more a recognition of a remarkable lady whose dreams I was able to share. A headline in this month’s Dogs Today magazine in the UK poses the question, ‘The bravest dog rescuer ever?’ I can’t answer that as there have been many brave dog rescuers. What I can say is that Gill was the bravest and most dedicated rescuer I have ever met.”

Soi Dog Foundation

Established in 2003 in Phuket, Thailand, Soi Dog is Southeast Asia's largest organisation helping stray animals. The Gill Dalley sanctuary in Phuket is home to over 1,600 animals. Soi Dog also has a treatment facility in Bangkok and responds to crisis situations throughout Thailand. It has a maximum 4-star rating with Charity Navigator, the largest and most-utilised independent non-profit evaluator in the United States, a platinum seal of transparency from Candid, the world’s largest source of non-profit information, a Top Rated award from Greatnonprofits and the Travelers’ Choice award from Tripadvisor.
