DOGS ARE BEING KILLED AND THROWN AWAY LIKE GARBAGE

In the capital city of Myanmar (formerly Burma), thousands of dogs are being poisoned as a means of population control. Innocent, healthy dogs in Yangon City are given meat laced with strychnine, which causes violent seizures and eventual death. This cruel method is neither effective nor humane. Despite these monthly dog culls, the stray dog population continues to rise. Dog lover groups in the country are outraged as such practices go against Buddhist beliefs.

Soi Dog Foundation has been working with the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) to end the killing and implement spay/neuter and rabies vaccination programmes instead. Soi Dog has obtained commitment from YCDC to stop poisoning dogs in 2 Yangon City townships.

Now, we need a commitment to stop the mass killing of dogs in ALL townships. Stay tuned for further updates from Myanmar. Your support makes this work possible. Please donate here: http://bit.ly/stop_the_yangon_city_killing
