Hi everyone, an update on the Marsiling crippled cat: one of our Inspectors visited the area yesterday and after speaking to some residents he managed to locate the owner. The cat (a sterilised male) was inside the home. According to the owner, the cat was found in a drain about a year ago with a spinal injury, and taking pity on the animal's plight, she adopted it. She sought a veterinarian's opinion who said that she could opt to have surgery done on the cat, or leave it as it is. The cat appears to have adapted to its condition and seemed quite happy. Other than it's appearance (not being able to walk), it is in relatively good body condition. From our point of view, choosing surgery in this instance would not ensure that it would be successful, in that it may be highly risky for the animal as well. We have advised the owner to keep the cat indoors where it can remain safe.
