THE SAD FACE OF NEGLECT

It may not look that way, but Sangthong is one lucky dog.

Two Soi Dog veterinarians came across Sangthong trapped on a road. He was confused, injured, and scared. Trembling in pain, it was clear Sangthong was in bad shape. Straight away, Dr. Sai and Dr. Parn brought the bewildered dog to the Soi Dog hospital.

Sangthong was diagnosed with mange and inflammation of the paws. Ticks crawled throughout his knotted fur. Maggots filled two big wounds on his legs. The wound on his right front leg was so deep that maggots had invaded the muscle – bone was visible.

Stories like Sangthong’s are not uncommon here in Thailand. At the Soi Dog shelter we see many suffering dogs like this every day.
