WHO Fought With Cow Last Night?
We went out for dinner last night and when we came home, we found splatters of blood all over the floor in Bunny’s Room. They were very tiny droplets and had already dried up.
Jia-Wen immediately checked the cats and found that Cow was the only one with injuries. Bunny and Indy didn’t have a single scratch on them.
Of course, Cow being Cow, he was still walking around as though nothing had happened (if you’ve been following Cow’s stories right from the time he was young, you’d know Cow has an extremely high threshold for pain, even as a little kitten, and you might remember the numerous fights he got into in the old neighbourhood).
We carried Cow out to the kitchen. Armed with my ever-reliable first aid kit (for injuries) of hibiscrub, povidone iodine and organic cotton, I cleaned up all his wounds. There was a wound at the back of his ear, another on his ear (this was the deepest one) and it was right at where his ear got chipped many years ago from an alley fight. There was also a hole which had gone through his ear. He has a similar kind of “hole” from the old neighbourhood too.
His paw was also injured. An entire claw had come out (I cannot remember how many claws Cow has lost in the past – they do grow back, right?) and there was another injury higher up on his leg.
Cow, after first-aid had been administered.
The cotton pads used.
Appetite not affected – good.
Tiger was in the room all day, but thank goodness he had the wisdom to hide inside the cupboard, so we are sure Tiger wasn’t a victim. We think Tiger has grown so scared of the Cows that whenever he is in the room, he has no place to hide, so he goes into the cupboard and stays there. That is why we let him out to “the rest of the house”. But the other day, Tiger went out of the gate to the drain, so it’s a bit tricky now. If we close up the house because Tiger might venture out, the PatioCats won’t have a way in. To solve this, I’m teaching the PatioCats that there IS a way in – through the kitchen window. But Tiger must not know this.
Tricky situation, isn’t it?
So far, I have “taught” Heidi and Ginger about this secret entrance.
Cow seemed okay after that.
After all, he is Cow.
By the way, Cow has been on barf for so many months now, I was hoping he’d lose some weight but no, his weight is still 6.1 kg.
I made a batch of home-cooked food last night and also made chicken soup for the cats. The last time, everyone loved it, but this time, they weren’t as enthusiastic.
We also noticed that Bunny seemed very tired last night. Maybe the fight was between Cow and Bunny?
Breakfast at the patio this morning.
Tiger eats in the kitchen.
Everyone’s appetite is fine this morning.
Bunny is his usual greedy self. So, that’s good.
Cow’s injuries seemed to have healed a lot.
