ACRES REMOVES A FISH HOOK FROM A MONITOR LIZARD!

The ACRES wildlife rescue team continues to get calls regarding animals who have fishing lines and hooks caught on them. Barb, the young water monitor lizard was the latest victim. He got a fish hook lodged in his mouth. Luckily, it was not lodged deeply and we managed to quickly remove the hook and set him free shortly after doing a health check. Unfortunately, not all animals who get caught in fishing lines and hooks survive. Many die a painful death from internal bleeding and other injuries!. We urge everyone to do their part by looking out for abandoned nets and fishing lines.
