UPDATE: 5 MORE CATS RESCUED IN BOSNIAN FREEZE
Many of you have been following our cat rescue operation in Bosnia. Twenty-one house cats were abandoned in the snow during frigid weather when their guardian simply put them outside and moved away for good. Today another five have been rescued, bringing the total to 16.
Our rescuer Edina Pasic believes there are five cats left on the property and she has numerous humane traps set to capture them. She is aware that there could potentially be another one or two cats who are hiding and whom she is not yet aware of. Shes promised to make certain that every last animal is removed from the property.
Thanks to all our amazing donors, and a very generous matching contribution from one of our supporters named Carol, we’ve been able to provide all the emergency veterinary care, blood tests and spay/neuter is underway. So far, all the cats have tested negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia.
Whats very exciting is that all the cats will travel together to Hungary where we have a rescue contact who is going to open up the basement of her home to the cats as a sort of temporary shelter. They will have the freedom to move around and to socialize because we did not want to keep them in cages. Their adoption process could be quite lengthy due to behavioral issues with some, so this is the best regional opportunity to provide them with decent care.
