Hi Dr Chan
I have discussed with my wife that we will let him free if he still unhappy after moving him to a 3-tier cage & having another kitten as companion. We will free him once his wire is removed (another 3 weeks to go). We felt for him too as we can see that he is very unhappy. Also he was force feed with his medication. I noticed he been scratching his ear recently so yesterday when we brought him to the vet for a follow up checking, wangzhi was prescribed with ear lotion. Suspected ear infection.
Only if Wangzhi knows what I am doing is actually for his own good. Hopefully he is happier now. I feel discontented in the sense that Wangzhi thinks the corner neighbour treated him well (when I left my house I saw him inside my neighbour house).
I did informed the vet about this and his advised was to let him be & leave some food & water, in case Wangzhi is hungry he may come back to eat. He also advised to stop the medication (not to further antagonise Wangzhi). He said Wangzhi has been on Anti-biotic for a week so he should be ok (supposed to finish this Wednesday). Try bring Wangzhi back to him when its time for removing the wire.
Overall my wife & myself have done what is best for him during his injured period. I believed Wangzhi has recovered well this 1 week judging by his movement and energy. We have no regrets. My only concern is his wired jaw.
Well ultimately he chooses his own path. Hopefully his will regain his happiness and do come back for food. Anyway I have been feeding him well, even the vet was surprised I fed Wangzhi gourmet food like Natural Balance & Evo for wet food and Addictions Salmon Bleu for kibbles. I make sure its grain free. However Wangzhi loves raw chicken meat & liver best.
Shall update you again should Wangzhi do come back. Maybe fat chance as I think he only remembered me for putting him through pain (vet), forcing him to take medication and restricting his freedom.
Cheers
BK
BK and his wife have given Wangzhi the very best, and now, it's up to Wangzhi. Sometimes, we can only do so much.
I remember when Joanie ran away after 20 days, I informed the vet who had attended to her as she battled her terrible ordeal of obstructed labour. The vet said to let her be as her escape indicates she must be feeling good enough. It is not easy to rehabilitate a free-roaming animal to become a home pet. Joanie was warded for 4 days, and I nursed her after that because her feeder said she could not do it. At that time, Joanie must have also felt very antagonised by my 9-member household feline colony, even though we had matched her up with little Suki as a surrogate daughter.
We pray Wangzhi will at least return for food daily, and BK can take him back for suture removal on the due date.
