Ever since we got registered as a society, our functions and missions have been clearly defined - We are a medical fund and our funds are used solely for sponsoring/subsidising spay-neuter and medical treatment for strays.
We have also declared that we would not be using our medical fund for food donations, but would do a separate fund-raising for this purpose when the need arises.
Recently, we raised funds to purchase 105 bags of dogfood for Meiji.
Besides this, we also did the same (but on a much smaller scale) to help two more caregivers of stray and community animals.
Mr Low
Mr Low is a site supervisor in one of the many factories in North Port. He has been feeding the dogs on a barren site near his workplace for sometime now. But he only gives them bread. Recently, we raised money to purchase two packs of dogfood for him.
That's Mr Low and his daughter, Winnie, feeding the dogs at North Port.
Some of these dogs are very friendly and have probably been dumped here.
But the land is barren...they would not be able to survive on their own.
Angel and Brownie (mother-and-son) were the first dogs to be rescued out of this site. Both are still living with Winnie now. Brownie came down with Parvo Virus shortly after that, but survived the ordeal (RetroMAD1 helped). Angel has been spayed under our sponsorship.
Winnie is now asking if there is any way we could get a vet to come to the site and do spay-neuter. I've given her a contact. Let's see how that goes. If you know of any vet who might be able to do this, please write to me at chankahyein@gmail.com.
Pak Din
We highlighted Pak Din's plight many months ago. Pak Din is a retired musician who now lives in a shack in Gombak. He is in his sixties. He feeds and looks after 9 dogs (8 are puppies) and 8 cats in the community. His plight was highlighted to us when two of his adult dogs were poisoned. We helped with the medical bill, but sadly, the two dogs did not make it. Now, he only has one adult mother-dog and 8 puppies.
Pak Din gets the dogs spayed-neutered at Klinik Kembiri.
Although we have helped Pak Din before, he does not ask for help unless he really needs it. Recently, he requested for a bag of dogfood and one of our donors sponsored it.
That's the bag of food Pak Din requested.
There is no water or electricity in Pak Din's makeshift shack. Two weeks ago, the nearby orphanage gave him a job of ferrying children to school.
Our friend, Chew, is helping Pak Din get back on his feet.
