Today is the event proper for the "I'm an F3" campaign at my college. For the last four days, the college's NECTAR club had been selling our tshirts and distributing my books.
Today, other students from three classes joined them in three more activities: 1. Exhibition on cruelty to animals (Philosophy class) 2. Poster presentation (English class) 3. Cultural foods (all vegetarian) (Anthropology class)
Getting the deco ready...
There were 45 posters on display. It's part of their assignment.
Joey, president of the NECTAR club. She was also emcee for the day.
Joey and Alex, the ones who worked the hardest throughout these 5 days.
Our display.
Makes you want to go back to school, doesn't it?
Yes, black is always popular amongst the younger generation.
This is the Thai booth.
Cuisine ala Italiano?
This is Booth Egypt. That's Bastet, the cat-goddess...don't mess with her.
Eco-friendly products, absolutely not tested on animals. Eco-friendly homemade soaps.
What goes on behind the scenes at the circus...
This says, "I'd rather go naked than wear furs and skins". Would you?
Janitha, my colleague. She's just gone on a pilgrimage to India, hence, the shaven head.
The students had fun being chefs for the day.
Fried banana, anyone? Not our pisang goreng, though. This is done Balinese.
The students made all these food themselves.
Thank you, guys!
That's Kamala beside Clifford, the big red dog.
Kamala organised this event.
Here are some of the posters:
So heartening to see so much awareness and knowledge being disseminated to the students.
No, this is not a new tshirt. It's a sticker! Cheeky Alex had crossed out the animals that he still eats.
Presentation of the prizes.
The hand-made soaps stall won a prize.
Booth Egypt, too. (With Bastet, the feline-goddess present, it is no surprise)
The best poster award goes to....
Poster No. 23!
We'd like to thank Kamala for organising this event, Joey and the members of the NECTAR Club for toiling through the 5 days of promoting and selling tshirts, stock-checking and manning the booth around the clock from 9am until 5pm every day.
And last but not least, a big thanks to everyone who came to support the students' efforts at raising the awareness of the plight of animals and also celebrating the fact that we are now more aware of such things, and we will do our fair share in protecting the flora and fauna.
How? 1. By using products that are not tested on animals. 2. By not patronising events like circuses and other activities where animals are exploited. 3. By not using furs, skins, etc. 4. By eating vegetarian foods (every culture has its own). 5. By supporting all efforts aimed at helping and protecting animals.
I'm an F3 (a Friend of Flora and Fauna).
Are you, too?
