Tiger Takes Off His Tshirt
Tweet |
It’s been many, many weeks since Tiger donned his (many) tshirts. The reason for making him wear a tshirt has been to prevent him from directly biting his flank and other parts of his body as this biting action leads to him throwing a fit.
But it’s been many, many weeks now. And having a tshirt on means he cannot groom the parts of his body that is covered by the tshirt.
I know how important it is for a cat to be able to groom himself. Grooming is also about self-respect and dignity for most cats…unless the cat is a slob, for which Tiger certainly isn’t.
So, for a few times, I’ve tried taking the tshirt off, but the frightening thing is that Tiger would instantly go for his flank, bite really hard and this results in an immediate fit, complete with urine splatters and the full works.
Yes, you can imagine how traumatic that experience is, especially for me.
This happened a few times so I mastered the art of changing his tshirt swiftly without giving him a chance to bite his flank.
But this evening, Tiger somehow managed to take off his tshirt all by himself. And this is his yellow AnimalCare tshirt too, which is the smallest one of all. I don’t know how he did it, but he did.
We found the tshirt on the floor and Tiger was sitting at the vegetable pots, quite happy with himself.
I could not find any urine splatters or scratch marks on the floor.
Tiger looked calm too.
We decided maybe it’s time to let him groom himself, after so many weeks of being in the tshirt. When his tshirt was on, sometimes he did get frustrated and would stick his snout between the tshirt and his body just to reach certain parts to groom. Many times he would get all entangled too and some times this entanglement in turn resulted in a fit.
So we let Tiger groom and he did…for a long time. No tshirt.
Later, he had supper with everyone.
More grooming again.
It’s been a long time, Tiger!
It’s always nice to be au naturel, isn’t it?
We’ll monitor closely and see how it goes – whether he still needs to be clothed or not!
