DID YOU KNOW?

48% of rivers assessed for water quality in the country are either polluted or slightly polluted

97% of our water supply in Malaysia comes from rivers

211 litres is the amount of water used daily at home by each Malaysian

Our rivers are vital natural capital that provides our source of drinking water, besides their numerous other critical roles for people and nature. Yet sadly, our rivers are increasingly being threatened from the rising demand for water, inefficient water use, pollution from urban areas to adverse effects of climate change and unsustainable land use activities especially near water catchment areas and flood mitigation areas. All of these have major impact on our rivers and subsequently, our water resources.

Together, we can safeguard our water resources by taking action to conserve water and support protection of our rivers.

In Conjunction with #WorldRiversDay this 25 September 2016, share with us what you do to play your part in saving our rivers.
