LIONS RESCUED FROM ARMENIAN ZOO WILL TAKE FLIGHT SOON
Months ago, lions and bears were found starving in an Armenian zoo. A couple walking in the area heard the animals terrible sounds of suffering and they knew they had to find food….quickly. The couple is retired and they live modestly, but they camped nearby and fed the animals scraps from a nearby slaughterhouse. They also fished and foraged for food in a nearby forest. A sanctuary was found for the bears and they have been moved. A larger enclosure was built for the lions to get out of their tiny cages thanks to Daily Mail readers in England.
The lion pride is now well enough to travel to their new sanctuary provided through the Nature Foundation in Wales. Transporting lions such a large distance is no small feat. Harmony Fund is assisting International Animal Rescue with this spectacular rescue and we look forward to seeing the lions enjoy their new home very soon. (photos: Roger Allen)
