SPEEDY, AGILE TORTOISES!

Many of us share the opinion that tortoises are slow, rather clumsy animals. But that�s not necessarily so!

Recently, we engaged our wildlife sanctuary volunteers to conduct some dietary enrichment for the rescued tortoises in our care at the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre (AWRC). The volunteers placed chopped pumpkin at elevated areas within the enclosures in order to encourage the tortoises to engage in physical exercise, as well as stimulate the tortoises� brain cells, while finding their food.

The photos shown below were taken by our volunteers. The volunteers were amazed by how fast and agile the tortoises can be when climbing up and down to find their treats!
