NATIVE WILDLIFE RESCUE SPECKLE
Last week, we received a call from someone who was concerned about a pigeon dangling from the roof of the multi-storey carpark at Mustafa shopping centre.
As often happens, our busy rescue team was already in the midst of dealing with three other cases at the time when we received the call. Our thanks go to the kind caller and her dad, who untangled the pigeon from the mess and left her safely contained in a crate at a quiet corner until we arrived.
Speckle, as we named her, had gotten into trouble from the debris tangled up on her feet. The strings were already cutting into her digits and there was some dead tissue on her feet. With a little help from us to remove all the strings and clean up the digits, Speckle was all good for release the next day! In general, mynahs and pigeons are hardy, and we have noticed pigeons and mynahs with missing digits, missing feet, or even stumps for both feet.
Please remember to call our 24hr ACRES Wildlife Rescue Hotline at 9783 7782 for assistance if you see any wild animal in distress.
Have a great weekend everyone!
