SIX MONTH’S JAIL TERM FOR ILLEGALLY IMPORTING PUPPIES INTO SINGAPORE
We are pleased that the accused has been sentenced to six month’s jail term for smuggling three puppies into Singapore via a modified speaker box in the car boot, which could have suffocated the puppies. He was found to have subjected the puppies to unnecessary suffering or pain.
“The importation of any animals or live birds without an AVA permit is illegal and carries a maximum penalty of S$10,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.”
The SPCA is happy to have assisted with rehoming the puppies and all are doing fine with their new human companions.
ICA officers uncovered the puppies, which were hidden in the man’s car boot, in April 2016.
