THE SPCAs STERILISATION VOUCHER SCHEME IS BACK!
Trap-Neuter-Release-Manage (TNRM) of community dogs and cats, sometimes referred to as street animals or strays, is the most humane and effective method of population control. This involves sterilising the animal so it can no longer reproduce and then responsibly managing the animal in the community while it lives out its life. There are many responsible and compassionate caregivers around our island who feed and care for these animals every day.
Since 1991, the SPCA has distributed over 33,000 free sterilisation vouchers (for community dogs and cats) to caregivers and other animal welfare groups, totalling over $1.2 million in costs borne by the SPCA. These vouchers could be used at any of our external partner clinics, and granted the community animal a completely paid-for sterilisation procedure. The voucher scheme kept the community dog and cat populations down and saved countless lives.
Since the recent expansion of the Stray Cat Sterilisation Programme (SCSP) covers almost all areas in Singapore, our re-launched voucher scheme will now only include community dogs.
Please email clinic@spca.org.sg if you are interested to apply for our sterilisation vouchers. Please note that the vouchers can only be used for local breed dogs from the streets.
You can also donate to help fund our voucher scheme. With your kind donation, we hope to issue more free sterilisation vouchers to caregivers and other animal welfare groups www.giving.sg/society-for-the-prevention-of-cruelty-to-animals/sterilise_our_community_dogs
