Home-Cooked Food For Tiger (and All!)

I was weighing between raw food and cooked and finally “cooked” won for today. The reason is, not everyone likes raw and Bunny definitely cannot eat raw. Cleo, who LOVES raw, recently developed a hypersensitivity towards raw food which resulted in a very bothersome itch. Ever since I took her off raw food, her skin started to heal and the fur is growing back now.

But, back to Tiger…

Being on TCM now, he has to eat home-prepared food with as little chemicals as possible. Raw or cooked? Tiger did love Coco&Joe’s earlier on, and that’s raw.

But I decided that since Tiger is not feeling too well now, perhaps cooked food would be a better option for him. Also, I don’t know where to get really fresh meat (if raw, it has to be really, really fresh).

So, I bought antibiotic residue free chicken this morning and cooked for everyone. Along with the chicken, I added pumpkin, carrot, broccoli and baby cabbage (all organic). All boiled with water (soupy) and blended. I’ve checked with the holistic vet and she says I could add other veges besides pumpkin. She mentioned pumpkin because it has fiber.

It reminded me of the days when Bobby was on home-cooked food… I remember way back then, the cats didn’t quite like my home-cooked food. Can’t blame them, I’m not a very good cook, really.

I used the pressure cooker so it was ready in barely half an hour. Waited for it to cool a little before I deboned all the chicken parts. While it was being cooked, Ginger and Rosie both jumped onto the stove and sat near the pot!

And while I was deboning the chicken, Vincent helped eat up whatever meat that was left on the bones!

Then, came the blending…oops, I think I added too much water so it was extremely soupy. My heart sank and I was so sure no one would want to eat it at all.

Anyway, it’s already done, so let’s just try it out.

Tiger got his first…

I was so happy that Tiger liked it! He lapped up the soupy food and had three helpings!!

Bunny and Cow liked it too (is it because they are “senior” now?). Tabs wasn’t too interested but she ate some. Cleo and Pole ate some too but Indy simply refused to eat. He walked away and sat far away, looking very miserable.

Outside, the PatioCats weren’t crazy about it when they were served the soupy food. I think perhaps they don’t like it blended because earlier on, Vincent was happily eating up all the meat on the bones. Heidi didn’t like it, so she just ate some. I’m surprised, because I thought she would, especially when she doesn’t like raw meat. This is cooked food.

Well, I already know I won’t be able to please everyone.

Finally…

Indy decided he would try some.

That’s mighty big of you, Indy. Thank you, thank you.

(He probably thinks this is food for the elderly!)

And yes, Indy ate two helpings…!!

I just hope they will eat it again, because I made enough for two more meals.

No seizure was observed on Tiger as of yesterday until now.

I’m counting the minutes…
