EVERY MAJOR UK SUPERMARKET HAS COMMITTED TO SELLING ONLY CAGE-FREE EGGS!
Were celebrating the fact that Tesco, Iceland, Morrisons, Asda, Lidl and Aldi have all joined the cage free movement, pledging to phase out cages for laying hens by 2025! These six major supermarkets now join other UK retailers such as Waitrose, Sainsburys, Marks and Spencer and The Cooperative Food, all of which stopped selling eggs from caged systems some years ago.
This dramatic shift in corporate consciousness could see an extra four million hens per year be released from cages by 2025.
In recent months there has also been a huge wave of food companies across America committing to a cage-free future.
We encourage Singaporean retailers to join the global switch to cage-free eggs, and we encourage local eateries to use cage-free eggs in their food production too.
As a consumer, you can help make this happen. Ask your local supermarket to stock cage-free eggs and ask your favourite restaurants to use them too – let them know that you care about the welfare of hens!
