When Norshidah brought Burt in for a check-up and found that he had sporotrichosis, she told me Burt has a brother who is very close to him and this brother, Ben, also has similar-looking wounds.
This afternoon, Nor brought Ben to the same vet (the one who is treating Burt).
Burt was so happy to see his brother, and made a lot of noise.
We're really pleased to hear (and see) that some of Burt's sporo wounds have dried up - this is fast!
Only that stubborn one near the nose is still a bit wet.
The vet feels the wounds should heal in about a week, but the drug would still need to be administered for many more weeks lest a relapse happens.
This is Ben, Burt's brother.
That's the big wound on his back. There's another wound on his side.
We waited for an hour for the swab test results. It looked like it's not sporotrichosis - what a relief!
The vet said it could have started as some irritation due to mites and because Ben scratched, the wound became bad.
The vet will frontline Ben and treat the wound. If it is not sporotrichosis, Ben's treatment would not be as costly as Burt's.
Burt's boarding and treatment is RM40 per day. Not many vets are wiling to board and treat a sporo cat, so getting a vet who is willing is already a stroke of luck.
We are helping Nor with the cost of treating both cats.
Ben and Burt are two of the many stray cats fed by Norshidah's elderly mother.
