Can Cats Eat If All Teeth Are Removed?

According to one of the threads here, sometimes stomatitis could be an auto-immune problem. It’s just so hard to determine what Vincent’s problem is. For example, this morning, he wanted to eat, but Ginger chased him away. Then I could not find him.

Later, he came back and I gently caged him with the food (already mixed with TF, Plague Off and fish oil). He refused to eat. I left him alone for an hour and soon, he started whining.

Finally, I opened a fresh can of food and offered it to him in a fresh bowl in the cage. He still refused to eat.

I took out his bowl and Heidi was nearby, so I gave half of it to Heidi. Heidi lapped it all up (the supplements are all good for Heidi too). I was hoping the sight of Heidi eating might motivate Vincent to eat as well. But no, he still refused to eat.

Rather than stress him further, I let him out.

He ran off.

Then, I took a chance and mixed some of the first batch (with supplements) with the fresh food, and left the bowl near him.

What do you know?

He ate it all up. He didn’t appear to have any problems chewing the food too.

Sometimes, he wants to eat in the cage. Sometimes, he wants to eat under the chair. Sometimes, he wants to eat under the car. Sometimes, he wants to eat with everyone else. Sometimes, he wants only wetfood. Sometimes, he wants both dry and wet. Sometimes, he only wants dry and wet mixed. Sometimes, he wants them in separate bowls.

If I don’t get it right, he will refuse to eat.

But I cannot read his mind and know what he wants. There are too many combinations.

I just want him to eat some food every day in order to sustain his life. But it’s very stressful having to figure out HOW to make him eat. And on certain days, I do not have the luxury of time to make this happen as I have to go to work.

Is Vincent having gum pain and is therefore, displaying all these eating problems? Or is he just attention seeking? Or what?

I really don’t know, Vincent.

If only I could understand you better. Until that happens, I’ll be very happy if you’d just continue eating some food every day.
