Ask Cincinnati Zoo To Let Their Gorillas Go To A Sanctuary

Harambe’s tragic death has sparked outrage across the globe. Some say the zoo is at fault for fatally shooting the gorilla instead of using a tranquilizer. Others blame the parents for not keeping a better eye on their son. But the real problem is that Harambe shouldn’t have been at the zoo in the first place. A zoo is no place for an endangered animal like the silverback gorilla.

Ani was heartbroken when she heard about Harambe’s death, but she immediately began to think about the well-being and safety of the 10 other gorillas still living at the Cincinnati Zoo. She created a Care2 petition urging the zoo to release their remaining gorillas to a sanctuary. Will you sign it?

Elle, Mondika, Gladys, Jomo, Samantha, M’Linzi, Mara, Asha, Anju, and Chewie. These are the names of the endangered silverbacks still being kept in the Cincinnati Zoo’s Gorilla World. These are the gorillas who lost a brother and are still in an enclosure that obviously is not safe.

If a four-year-old boy can get into the gorilla enclosure, what is stopping someone else from getting in and once again endangering themselves and the gorillas? The Cincinnati Zoo is obviously not able to properly protect the critically endangered gorillas in its care.

There are only about 175,000 western lowland silverback gorillas left in the wild. Pretty soon there may not be any. We cannot allow any more of these critically endangered animals to be kept captive and have their lives threatened for our entertainment.

It may be too late to save Harambe, but it is not too late to save his family. Please sign this petition to tell the Cincinnati Zoo to make something good come out of Harambe’s death by releasing his family to a sanctuary. If enough people speak out, we may be able to pressure the zoo into doing the right thing.
